Daniel Says

In the spirit of non-conformity, and reflecting the theme of this show, a series of instructions were placed on Stoke Newington High Street.

The title of the show was based on a quotation from 'Homo Ludens' (1938), by Johan Huizinga, the founder of the theory of play: In play we move below the level of the serious, as the child does; but we can also move above it . . . in the realm of the beautiful and the sacred.

The DANIEL SAYS texts . . .

breed lions

polish your soul

cheat the devil

walk bare foot

desire what you fear

expect something / nothing

wise up and be rich

how innocent are you

be calm now

love teachers

still time to wise up
